This program is available in person or virtually SYNCHRONOUS (live).

 

In this residency teaching artist Harlan Brownlee presents STEM curriculum (science, technology, engineering, and math) using dance. By integrating dance into STEM curriculum, students build 21st century skills, such as critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Choose from one of these topics:

 

Animals and Algorithms: Coding & Choreography 1st-4th, 3 to 6 workshops*
Biome Boogie: Exploring Animal and Plant Adaptations with Dance  1st-5th
Moving Through Math with Dance  K-2nd
Principles of Flight 3rd-5th
Properties of Matter and Materials, 1st-2nd, 3 workshops*
The Changing Earth, 1st-3rd, 3 to 5 workshops*
Weather on the Move, 2nd-6th
Simple Machines: Bodies at Work, 3rd-5th
Energy Conversion, 4th-5th, 3 to 5 workshops*
Planets of Our Solar System, 6th-8th

Fees: $127 single, $109 each for 2 or more on the same day / The break between workshops must not exceed 90 minutes to receive the reduced rate. Title 1 Schools may qualify for funding assistance.

Maximum Audience Size: in person 30; virtual 15

Program Length: 45 minutes

Requirements: A large, clear space for dancing, such as a classroom with desks moved out of the way, a gymnasium, or multi-purpose room. Teachers must be present at all times during workshops.
