Minding Your SELs

Moving MattersKC - Harlan Brownlee

This program is available in person or virtually SYNCHRONOUS (live) or ASYNCHRONOUS (prerecorded).

Working from the Actor’s Tool Box as the foundation for developing self-regulation skills, students are taught to calm their bodies, focus their minds, and balance their emotions. They move on to basic skills related to cooperation and empathy, learning to lead and follow with the dance activities of mirroring and direct imitation. After reflecting on their experience of working together, and depending on grade level, students are guided to create dances based on themes related to recognizing and dealing with various emotional states, personal hygiene and physical distancing, and individual responsibility for making positive social change and helping others.
