Giving Tree (The)
Moving MattersKC - Harlan Brownlee
This workshop is available in person or virtually SYNCHRONOUS (live).
In this workshop, students will interpret the words and images from Shel Silverstein's book, The Giving Tree, through movement. By translating the story into dance phrases, students will express their understanding of its themes and build both their word and dance vocabulary. Through this process, they will discover that while authors use words and choreographers use movement, both create powerful images that convey messages. At the end of the workshop, students will reflect on the people in their lives who give and care for them, drawing connections between the story and their personal experiences.
