A Visit to Leipzig

Travel back in time with us to Leipzig where Johan Sebastain Bach is Kapellmeister. "Mr. Bach" himself will welcome you to his concert!  The year is 1729 and the musicians will be playing four of his favorite compositions;  Suite No.1, the Brandenburg Concertos No.3. and No.4 and Sinfonia from Cantata 42.

 

Several weeks prior to the concert, teachers will receive concert specific materials that includes biographies of the composer, program notes about the music, lesson plans that meet national standards, and a C/D containing the music that is to be played at the concert.

 

Concert Format: Maestro Sorrell talks with the students about the music, what to listen for, featured instruments, etc. After the selection is played, students have the opportunity to ask questions.
